Behaviour Charter

GOA’s aim is to provide an optimal game experience at GOA.COM, both in the game and on the official European site. In order to do this any person wishing to benefit from this service must respect the rules laid out in this good conduct charter.

Legality

No illegal activity is acceptable at GOA.COM and as a general rule in the game environments. Encouraging such activities, or providing the means to engage in these activities, will not be tolerated.

It is prohibited to provide the means to obtain illegal and/or harmful software packages (such as viruses or hacking/pirating programs).

Links to websites not complying with this charter may be removed, as well as links to sites whose content is considered inappropriate by members of the GOA.COM team.

Our members can post content on our forums. These forums are moderated and the exact same rules apply.

Liability

Each user is responsible for their actions in the game and on the site, as well as for what they say. Furthermore, GOA cannot be held liable for the lack of protection of a user’s computer.

Users are solely liable for the content that they post and we reserve the right to withdraw any content posted by users, without having to notify the user concerned.

GOA cannot be held liable for the actions of users. The user should ensure they are in front of their screen each time their character carries out an action normally requiring human intervention (launching a command, pressing a key, etc.). If your character or account is being used staff will assume it is you using it.

When receiving advice from staff or other user it is your decision whether you follow it or not. You should be aware that any users giving advice can come from very different backgrounds and have varied levels of experience (which they may not necessarily be aware of).

Contribute to Respecting the Charter

Help us make the site and the games a friendly space for everybody. In order to do this, respect this charter and help make sure others respect it. If you encounter other users who are not aware of the charter, politely invite them to read it.

Rules of Good Conduct

It is agreed, in order to contribute to a cordial atmosphere in the game, that users must respect each other.

Harassment of another person, insults, threats or other remarks intended to hurt another person will not be tolerated.

Of course we also expect our members to express themselves in polite language. Furthermore, racist, xenophobic or revisionist opinions, proselytism or showing intolerance (whether religious, ideological, philosophical or other) will not be allowed.

“Flooding”, i.e. rapid systematic repetition of a phrase, interfering with communication between users, is prohibited, as well as any abuse of means of communication available on the site and masquerading as a member of the GOA.COM team is prohibited. Engaging in hacking type activities or encouraging such activities is also prohibited.

It is also prohibited to distribute software packages enabling this type of activity, as well as viruses and other programs or scripts that are harmful to users and their equipment.

Players will undertake not to take advantage of any bugs or design faults. Furthermore, players will also undertake to notify GOA staff of bugs and other design faults discovered as soon as possible.

GOA hosts servers in four different languages (English, German, French and Spanish). It is possible to connect to all of the servers however, if you are communicating on the general discussion channels, you are kindly requested to express yourself in the language of the server (i.e. French on the French servers, English on the English servers etc.). It is also strongly recommended that you express yourself in the language of the server concerned, but in no case can you insist that other users respond in your language.

Names of Characters and Guilds

The player is free to attribute the first name and last name that they consider the best for their avatar, provided that they respect the following rules. Note that these also apply to the naming of guilds.

  • No names with an insulting, degrading or racist connotation.
  • Names must only be composed of alphanumeric characters.
  • No religious, sexual or political references.
  • No trademarks, products, characters or any other element subject to copyrights.
  • No incitement to illegal activities.
  • No degrading references to other players’ characters or to GOA staff.
  • All the bans extend to combinations, homonyms and orthographic corruptions of names banned by this charter.

GOA reserves the right to penalise players who choose character names that are contrary to the community spirit of the game. Any activity of this type may result in various penalties, including deletion of the account.

Ownership and Advertising

A GOA.COM account is personal and individual. You cannot open an account in the name of a company, an association or any other entity, unless agreed by GOA. Furthermore, you do not have the right to give, sell, rent, loan or exchange your account under any circumstances. Any object, character, or virtual money from the game cannot, under any circumstances, be the subject of a transfer against payment. Any activity of this type may result in various penalties, including deletion of the account.

GOA provides you with a large number of spaces for postings. You are prohibited from using these spaces for commercial or advertising purposes.

Penalties

GOA reserves the right (at any time and without notice) to reduce access, as well as temporarily or indefinitely block any account that does not respect this charter, or that has encouraged a user not to respect this charter or in any way harms the community of players.

Recommendations

We very strongly recommend that you do not give out ANY personal details that could allow you to be identified (social security number, telephone number, actual address, etc.) to strangers.

GOA reserves the right to amend this charter, at any time and without notice. If you accept the charter, you accept any changes that could be made to it. We advise you to regularly consult the charter, to be aware of any changes, since it is regularly reviewed so that it fully encourages better gaming and friendly behaviour among players.
